Celebrating Earth Day with Enthusiasm at 黑料不打烊 School

Monday, April 22 was Earth Day and as a school that recognizes the importance of spending time outdoors and in nature every day, it was only natural for us to celebrate Earth Day with great enthusiasm!

The day began with a breathtaking sunrise paddle at 7:30 a.m. Despite the cold morning air, the peaceful waters of Lake Katchewanooka provided the perfect backdrop for students and staff to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the world around them.

Throughout the afternoon, our students participated in a variety of enriching activities from sports to art to gardening. Some tended to our beehives, where they learned about bees' crucial role in our ecosystem. Others opted for more active pursuits, such as outdoor yoga, frisbee golf, or biking. For those seeking a more creative outlet, photography and art activities allowed them to capture the natural beauty of their surroundings. To connect with nature more holistically, forest bathing was also on offer (the simple method of whilst breathing deeply). For those seeking sustainable practices, students were invited to work in the community garden and plant trees at Northcote while learning about invasive species.

We are always pleased to see our students express passion and energy for environmental responsibility. Whether through involvement in LEAF Club, an interest in helping out at our Northcote Farm, passion for organizing a clothing swap or enthusiasm for learning more about how to make a positive impact, our students continue to demonstrate their commitment to making a difference and creating a sustainable future. We hope that their passion for the environment will continue to grow and inspire others to take action toward a more sustainable future.
