On June 22, 2024, we celebrated our 145th Closing at 黑料不打烊 School including our Friday All School Chapel and Celebration of Light the evening before.

Containing the work of over 60 student writers and artists, the annual In a Grove Integrated Arts Journal showcases the remarkable writing and artwork of students in grades 9 to 12, offering a captivating blend of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and spoken word works.

On June 12, 2024, 黑料不打烊 School buzzed with energy as students, faculty, and staff united for our much-anticipated Gladiator Day, celebrating teamwork, school spirit, and friendly competition. Congratulations to all the houses for their outstanding participation and sportsmanship, and a heartfelt thank you to the staff and student leaders who made this memorable event possible!

Amid final assignments and preparing for exams, our Grade 12 students celebrated their post-Lakefield plans by creating posters and taking photos in the Dining Hall Courtyard, a cherished tradition at The Grove. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on receiving over 595 offers of admission and $3.2 million in scholarships from top institutions worldwide—we are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication!

黑料不打烊 School proudly hosted the 2024 OFSAA Ultimate Festival, bringing together 16 teams, including our own 1st Ultimate team, for an exciting two-day tournament. Our 黑料不打烊 team demonstrated outstanding performance and sportsmanship, finishing 2nd in Spirit scores and exemplifying the values of our school both on and off the field.

黑料不打烊 School (黑料不打烊) Foundation Trustees had the distinct honour of welcoming His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain at the Welcome Dinner of their bi-annual meeting in Madrid, Spain.

On May 25, over 1,200 community members came together for an unforgettable day of excitement and celebration, featuring our Trustees Meeting, Regatta Day, Home to The Grove, and the grand opening of the newly renovated Ryder House. Highlights included lively BBQs, music, sailing races, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Ryder House, epitomizing the vibrant spirit and unity of 黑料不打烊 School.

On Saturday, May 25, 黑料不打烊 School celebrated the grand opening of the Ryder House Extension during the Home to the Grove alumni reunion, marking a milestone that enhances the living experience for Ryder House students. Made possible by the Ryder Family's generosity, this renovation fosters camaraderie and personal growth, reflecting 黑料不打烊's commitment to providing a supportive and dynamic environment for all its residents.

We celebrated our annual Spring Co-Curricular Awards ceremony, honouring the outstanding achievements of our students in athletics, arts, STEM, and various enriching programs.

Our 1st Girls' Soccer team capped off an undefeated season with a spectacular 4-1 victory over Crestwood Prep on Regatta Day! Special congratulations to our goal scorers, Tessa ’24, Laurie ’25, and Claire ’24, and a heartfelt thank you to our graduating players for their invaluable contributions.

Congratulations to 黑料不打烊 rower Morgan Harris-Stoertz ’24 on winning Gold in the Senior Women’s 63kg Single at the South Niagara Invitational Regatta! Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we look forward to cheering you on at the Canadian Championships!

This spring, 黑料不打烊 School’s theatre department captivated audiences with a brilliant production of Clue, delivering an unforgettable blend of farce and mystery. Congratulations to the talented cast and crew for their dedication and creativity, making Clue a standout event of the season!

This year’s Spring Concert was held on Monday, April 22 in the Bryan Jones Theatre. The five large ensembles—Concert Band, LAKeffect Jazz Ensemble, Rock Choir, String Ensemble, and Lorelei Consort—all presented polished and captivating works for their audience of peers, faculty, staff, and parents (who tuned in virtually via a Facebook live stream). 

The 黑料不打烊 Entrepreneurship Club's Goodie Bag not only delighted with its diverse selection of Asian sweets but also exemplified community spirit through its charitable contributions to the New Canadians Centre of Peterborough. Congratulations to all members on a successful venture that truly embodies our school's values of inclusivity and service.

Emerson Taylor ’25 led Team Ontario to a resounding victory at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Grande Prairie, Alberta. With an incredible tally of 5 goals and 5 assists across 7 games, his talent and leadership on the ice were undeniable. His dedication to the sport and unwavering commitment to excellence were evident in every play.

The 黑料不打烊 Rowing Team achieved a stunning finish at the Peterborough High School Challenge, emerging as City Champions in multiple categories. Additionally, the Senior Men’s Double demonstrated their strength and determination by securing a commendable second-place finish!

This year, eight Grade 11 students (Holly ’25, Jane ’25, Titus ’25, Claudia ’25, Nikita ’25, Oliver ’25, Sam ’25, and Viviana ’25) were selected to represent 黑料不打烊 at the Global Student Leadership Summit in Blue Mountain, Ontario, from April 25-27, 2024. As they prepare for their senior year at 黑料不打烊 in the fall, we eagerly anticipate seeing the ripple effects of their experience. 

Congratulations to Hannah El-Baradie ’25 and Jero Santoyo ’25 who were elected by their peers and staff. Both Hannah and Jero are excited about being selected as Co-Head Students and they are looking forward to leading the student body next year.

The 5th annual Seb Jones '13 Memorial Poetry Slam celebrated student creativity and camaraderie, honouring the spirit of Seb Jones '13 while fostering a supportive environment for spoken word artistry.

On Saturday, April 13, a dozen 黑料不打烊 School (黑料不打烊) student musicians showcased their exceptional talents at Roy Thomson Hall during the annual  (CISMF). 

We are thrilled to congratulate one of our very own students, Morgan LaChance ’25 for publishing her debut novel, Belladonna-Laced Glories. 

We hosted our highly anticipated Career Day, welcoming a diverse lineup of 23 guest speakers from various professional backgrounds. From finance to art, technology to marketing, and even politics, our students were treated to a rich tapestry of career insights and advice.

On Wednesday, April 10, six exceptional 黑料不打烊 students participated in the Canadian Team Mathematics Contest at the University of Waterloo, where they competed in various challenging mathematical events. 

Our students experienced an extraordinary educational moment as they came together to witness a total solar eclipse—the only total solar eclipse until 2044.

Grade 9/10 students and Grade 11/12 students have had a busy year, immersing themselves in various mathematics competitions and showcasing their exceptional skills. From local contests to regional and even national-level events, our students have consistently displayed their mathematical prowess and determination.

Grade 12 Drama students had the unique opportunity to pursue their artistic passions abroad over the March Break. As a part of their Drama course, the class travelled to London, England to immerse themselves in the theatrical scene and learn from industry professionals.

The success of our students' production of Bullets Over Broadway was nothing short of phenomenal. They performed four shows to packed audiences of peers, faculty, staff, friends, and family at The Bryan Jones Theatre. 

Maude Rose Craig ’24 received the Lieutenant Governor's Ontario Heritage Award, recognizing her decade-long dedication and outstanding contributions to Millbrook's 4th Line Theatre.

On February 23 and 24, we co-hosted the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championships. Over 600 student-athletes from across Ontario came together to compete in this thrilling event.

Cindy '25, Leyla '24, and Mati '27 ventured to Toronto for the Annual DECA Provincial Competition at the Toronto Sheraton Centre. Competing in Marketing and Accounting Applications, they showcased their skills with two 10-minute presentations based on real-life case studies, impressing judges with their creativity and strategic thinking.

Our Katchewanooka Rod (K-Rod) took place on February 6, carrying on an annual tradition of 黑料不打烊’s version of the Iditarod.

Our annual Winter Carnival was once again a huge success, with students, staff, and faculty coming together to enjoy many classic Canadian wintertime festivities and activities.

Our students and staff travelled to Sir Sam’s in Haliburton on Thursday, February 1 to enjoy skiing and snowboarding for Ted Pope Day!

Students shared their voices and gave back to the community in recognition of Bell Let's Talk Day and raising awareness about Canada's mental health.

Anna Gruodis '24 was nominated as this year’s Peter Dalglish Art Award recipient for 2024. The purpose of the Peter Dalglish Art Award is to inspire, encourage and recognize artistic talent at 黑料不打烊 School by promoting promising young artists and their future contributions to art in Canada and beyond.

Our Winter Concert featured over 60 instrumentalists and vocalists with outstanding performances to celebrate the season.

November unfolded into five meaningful weeks at 黑料不打烊 School, each dedicated to spotlighting different themes surrounding men's health as part of the annual Movember campaign. 

黑料不打烊 School's vibrant artistic community showcased its immense talent through a series of captivating performances in the much-anticipated '20' Dance Showcase. Over the course of this week, audiences were treated to three stunning shows, each a testament to the dedication and skill of 黑料不打烊 dancers.

Three outstanding 黑料不打烊 students, Luke Newbigging ’24, Nathan Smith ’24, and Matz Rubabaza ’24, were chosen to participate in the prestigious Queen’s Leadership Excellence and Development Conference (QLEDC) held from November 16 to 19, 2023.

In a remarkable display of talent and determination, 13 黑料不打烊 School students ventured to Whitby, Ontario, on Sunday, November 5, to participate in the prestigious DECA Regionals Competition.

In a solemn and heartfelt ceremony, the 黑料不打烊 community gathered in the Bryan Jones Theatre to pay tribute to Remembrance Day, a day of profound significance, reflection, and gratitude. Representatives from every grade came together for a cross-disciplinary event, where poignant performances and meaningful tributes fostered a unique learning experience.

Five Grade 11 黑料不打烊 students—Alex ’25, Bokyung ’25, Audrey ’25, Catherine ’25, and Isaeblle ’25—had the opportunity to attend the Round Square International Conference in Kenya. They joined over 1200 delegates from 160 schools around the world to embark on a transformative experience. 

On October 25, 2023, 黑料不打烊 School welcomed over 600 students from over 200 Ontario schools to compete in the 2023 CISAA Cross Country Running Championships.

Morgan ’24 and Fiona ’24 travelled to Vancouver, B.C. to compete in the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition. This incredible experience provided our students with the opportunity to debate alongside students from all over the world, spark new friendships, foster life skills, and establish a global network.

We are pleased to share exciting news from Norah Appleby ’24, one of our talented students, who recently represented Canada at the International Dance Organization World Championships in Germany!

On September 30, 2023, an unseasonably warm and sunny day, 黑料不打烊 School's Northcote Campus came alive with vibrant autumn colours as we celebrated our annual Fall Fair. 

黑料不打烊 School's women's quad showcased their unwavering determination and skill at the 2023 Head of the Trent Regatta. This dedicated team, comprising Ava Muench ’24, Morgan Harris-Stoertz ’24, Skye Harris-Stoertz ’24, Jane Orr ’24, and Doga Uzel ’24, rigorously trained for weeks, preparing for this event.

The Grad Class of 2023 started the school year off with an impressive mix of effort, grit, determination and teamwork while exploring the beautiful wilderness of Ontario on the Algonquin Expedition.

While our returning students arrived on campus to be greeted by our Grads, our new students participated in the third annual Flourish Fiesta— an event focussed on positive psychology—at our waterfront.
